A mechanical engineer has been named general manager of the Refinadora Costarricense de Petróleo. She is María Gabriela Montes de Oca, who has worked for the petroleum monopoly for 27 years.
She began at the firm in 1989 with the job of designing storage tanks, said the company. She is a graduate of the Universidad de Costa Rica.
She will take over March 1, said the firm, which added that she is the first woman to hold the top job.
