Agronomists are celebrating their profession with a week of activities starting March 9.
The week includes Expoferia Agropecuaria y Forestal that will be held Saturday, March 15, and Sunday, March 15, all at the Colegio de Ingenieros Agrónomos de Costa Rica in Residencial Los Colegios, Moravia.
But all is not celebration. The professionals are conducting discussions on items of critical interest to some farmers on subjects that those outside agricultural areas may not have considered.
For example, March 10 the discussion will be on the illegal importation of beans, which has an impact on the local market.
Welmer Ramos, the economics minister will be a guest March 12 when the discussion is on the price of rice.
March 13, the topic will be insecticides and fungicides and their use in Costa Rica.
The expo featured a parade and display of pets March 15 as well as the exhibition and sale of agricultural and forestry products both March 14 and 15.
