Ministry promises housing after four years

Contractors who face mountains of regulations that slow down their projects will be happy to know that the same problems faces the government.

Calle Lajas is the section of San Antonio de Escazú that was wiped out by a landslide from Pico Blanco Nov. 5, 2010.  24 persons died.

Now after more than four years, the government said that new housing for the survivors would be ready in two weeks in an area out of harm’s way.

The homes have been finished and standing empty for months but technicalities with utilities have held up occupancy.  The project is being done by the Ministerio de Vivienda y Asentamientos Humanos. Now officials say just a couple of more weeks.
