A ceremony is planned Sunday, March 8, when APM Terminals is scheduled to begin work on its $1 billion container-handling facility in Moín.
Casa Presidencial said Tuesday that President Luis Guillermo Solís and cabinet members will conduct an official visit that day to verify the start of work.
Of course, that will only take place if there are no more court cases or violence on the part of Limón dockworker union members and supporters.
The container facility is expected to greatly increase the efficiency of the docks. APM, a Dutch firm, is building it as a concession. Control of the facility eventually will revert to the government.
The firm has to obtain environmental approval because the container docks will be on an artificial island in the harbor.
