Robbers victimize priests, food workers

Robbers invaded a Roman Catholic rectory Friday night and others knocked over a fast food restaurant early Saturday, said the Judicial Investigating Organization.

The rectory was in El Coyol de Alajuela. Two priests, 34 and 50 were there when two masked men forced their way in. They tied up the priests, threatened them and tried to learn the location of a safe.  There was no safe, judicial police said.

The crooks did take a computer, a cell phone and the wallets of the priests, investigators said.

The restaurant was in a commercial center in  San Antonio de Coronado. Three employees opening the restaurant abut 7 a.m. Saturday were confronted by gunmen.

There was a safe in the store, and the manager was obligated to open it by the gunmen. The crooks got away with nearly 2 million colons, about $3,700.
