The nation’s tax agency said Monday that inspectors have closed 49 businesses since the first of the year.
The main reason has been failing to file tax returns, failing to pay taxes and failing to issue facturas or receipts to purchasers.
In the case of chain ownership, problems with receipts result in the closing of the location where the irregularity took place. But when a chain is behind on taxes, all the branches are closed, said the agency, the Dirección General de Tributación.
During 2014, 293 businesses were closed for errors or omissions found by inspectors, the agency said.
