Canadian widow of former president dies

Marjorie Elliot Sypher, widow of former president Daniel Oduber, has died, the Partido Liberación Nacional said Thursday.

Oduber was president from 1974 to 1978. His wife was a Canadian, and the pair married in Paris.

She spoke four languages, played the piano well and actively participated with her husband in politics, friends said.

Liberación called her a pioneer in the environmental movement. Services were pending.
