A culture ministry agency is again in search of an historic building worth restoring.
The agency, the Centro de Investigación y Conservación del Patrimonio Cultural, has announced the opening of its annual architectural competition. The Ministerio de Cultura y Juventud agency offers 120 million colons to help restore a worthy building, public or private. That is about $227,000.
The agency has been making grants to restore buildings since 1997.
The proposals are made by architects who have in mind a specific structure that the Centro determines has social value.
The project can be anywhere in the country, the Centro noted.
The competition closes July 27, and the winner will be announced later in the year for work to be done in 2016.
