Robbery suspect with Uzi dies in firefight

A robber stuck up a supermarket in Siquirres about 9 p.m. Tuesday, but one of the victims managed to contact police via a silent alarm.

Officers were waiting for the man when he left the store and engaged him in a firefight. The suspect, identified by the last name of  Núñez, died, said the Judicial Investigating Organization. He was 33, agents said. He was hit four times, agents reported.

The man carried a mini-Uzi submachine gun, agents reported.
