Cartago’s utility service is offering a fiber optic network that can provide broadband Internet access of up to 100 megabits per second.
The agency said that it can provide service to 46,000 users.
The agency, the Junta Administrativa del Servicio Electrico Municipal de Cartago, also provides other utilities. The agency began hooking up customers in January as a pilot project, it has reported.
The Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad is expected to debut a similar service later this year.
Cartago residents can find out the details of the service at the agency’s Web site.
