Flurry of quakes reported offshore from Tamarindo Sunday night

The ocean off  Tamarindo experienced a flurry of quakes Sunday night.

The Red Sismológica Nacional gave this list:

The first was at 9:10 p.m. about 45 kilometers west of Cabo Velas with a magnitude of 4.5.

Then four minutes later a 4.2 quake took place about 71 kilometers west of Tamarindo. Six minutes after that in about the same location, a 4.1 magnitude quake took place.

Then at 10:38 p.m. about 81 kilometers west of Tamarindo there was a 3.7 magnitude quake.

All are believed to be the product of tectonic plate subduction.

What may have been a related event took inland about 9 kilometers west of Sardinal at 7:46 p.m.

That was a 3.3 magnitude quake.
