The ocean off Tamarindo experienced a flurry of quakes Sunday night.
The Red Sismológica Nacional gave this list:
The first was at 9:10 p.m. about 45 kilometers west of Cabo Velas with a magnitude of 4.5.
Then four minutes later a 4.2 quake took place about 71 kilometers west of Tamarindo. Six minutes after that in about the same location, a 4.1 magnitude quake took place.
Then at 10:38 p.m. about 81 kilometers west of Tamarindo there was a 3.7 magnitude quake.
All are believed to be the product of tectonic plate subduction.
What may have been a related event took inland about 9 kilometers west of Sardinal at 7:46 p.m.
That was a 3.3 magnitude quake.
