Transport officials plan to reopen the Sabana crossing in June once lights and gates are installed at the railroad tracks.
The crossing has been officially closed since March 2013, but there still are unofficial turns to the north as motorists cross the tracks after evading barriers that have been erected to prevent this practice.
The location is just south of the Gimnasio Nacional on the southeast corner of Parque la Sabana.
The location has been the scene of vehicle encounters with trains. The site will be the first with crossing gates for the valley train line.
