Cargill increases its presence in Costa Rica

Cargill Business Services, a division of the multinational, has opened operations in La Ribera de Belén and already has contracted 200 employees, said the Ministerio de Comercio Exterior.

The firm plans to handle finance and human resources at the call center and will add an information technological section, said an announcement.

The firm might have as many as 800 employees there by next year, trade officials said.

Cargill is no stranger to Costa Rica. The firm owns the meat processing firm Cinta Azul and the chicken firm Pipasa. In total, the firm has 4,500 employees here. The firm has been here since 1999.
