Lightning zaps famous statute of Jesus Christ

The emblematic towering statue of Jesus Christ at Pérez Zeledón took a lightning strike and suffered heavy damage Tuesday afternoon, expats there said.

The 12-meter statue was on a hillside near the main  highway.

The statue has been there for 25 years. The faithful in the Valle de El General are expected to rebuild the statute.
