The economics minister is visiting Guanacaste just in time for the marimba festival.
The festival is in Santa Bárbara de Santa Cuz for three days through Sunday as a tourism draw and to keep the musical instrument and its associated culture alive.
The minister, Welmer Ramos, began a visit Thursday with the goal of developing commercial contacts in the area.
The Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Comercio said the hope is to discuss initiatives that will provide help in the development process. Today the minister and his team will be in La Cruz, Santa Cruz, Nicoya, Carrillo and Hojancha where they were expected to discuss reducing paperwork and encouraging small and medium enterprises to consider financing through the Sistema de Banca para el Desarrollo.
