Foreign convict who did a long stretch for rape is expelled for 25 years

The immigration agency said Tuesday it had expelled a Nicaraguan for 25 years after he had completed a prison term for raping a minor.

The man was turned over to Nicaraguan officials at the Peñas Blancas border post, said the  Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería.

The man, who has the last names of Arzon Suazo, was a permanent resident, but the immigration agency cited laws that permitted the action.

The stipulation of 25 years in unusual. Typically foreigners are expelled for various reasons for from five to 10 years.
