Immigration officials said that a Chinese woman who is a permanent resident, tried to bribe a member of the Policía Profesional de Migración Wednesday in an effort to expedite paperwork.
The immigration agency said that the woman offered an envelope that contained 30,000 colons, about $57, as she inquired about the status of a work permit for a fellow foreigner.
She was accompanied by a group of Chinese nationals, said the Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería.
The woman was arrested on the spot in the la Uruca immigration complex, officials said.
The case was turned over to prosecutors in the Ministerio Público.
