Drug firm inaugurates $5.5 million facility

The local subsidiary of the Swiss pharmaceutical firm, Roche Centroamérica y Caribe, is investing $5.5 million in a new service and distribution center in Heredia.

The center is designed to service 23 countries in the region, the firm said.

The facility is in Ultrapark in La Aurora de Heredia, a free zone. The new facility will mean the firm will hire 40 new workers to join the 175 who already work there.

President Luis Guillermo Solís said the new facility was a vote of confidence in the country.  He spoke at an inauguration ceremony Wednesday.
