Heredia school ready for 80 more years

Staff, parents and students at the 80-year-old Escuela Félix Arcadio Montero in Santo Domingo de Heredia celebrated its restoration Thursday.

Windows were changed, writing was updated and the structure was painted in the 300-million colon project. That’s about $570,000.

The school has about 850 students, and the district itself was founded in 1880.

The structure is considered an icon for the canton.
