Police report arrest in San José serial killing case

Fuerza Pública officers said today that they had detained a suspect in the murders of at least seven women in the southern section of San José.

The arrest was in  Bajo de María Reina, Hatillo, officers said. The man, identified by the last name of Berrocal, lives in  Tirrases de Curridabat, they said. He is 30 years old.

Police said that the arrest was made early today in what is called a bunker, a fortified place for the consumption of drugs.

The women in this case who were killed this year were known drug users, said investigators when the bodies were found.

The Fuerza Pública said they also located the suspect’s car at the site. The car is believed to have been the one identified at the scenes where some of the bodies were dumped.
