Two bar owners face trafficking charges

Judicial agents claim that two bar owners smuggled women from the Dominican Republic into Costa Rica to work as prostitutes at their establishments.

The bars are in Zapote and Guápiles. The bar operators were detained late Friday.

The women came into the country through the porous northern border with Nicaragua, said the Judicial Investigating Organization.

Judicial investigators said they received a confidential tip two months ago.
