Ministry cannot act on Nazi goods

The Ministerio de Justicia y Paz says it does not have the authority to crack down on vendors of Nazi materials.

The ministry said that it has been contacted by the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was told that a shop in San Pedro was selling all types of Nazi paraphernalia and should be closed.

Since the ministry could not take action, it said that the complaint was sent to other agencies. The outlet selling Nazi goods was not named.

Selling such material is illegal in some countries, including Germany. But to do so is not illegal in Costa Rica. The Wiesenthal Center is known for its many years hunting World War II Nazis.
