Costa Rica was represented in two European cities Thursday.
Mercedes Peñas, the wife of President Luis Guillermo Solís was in Turin, Italy, for a forum on local development.
Manuel A. González, the foreign minister, also was at a forum.
This one was in Budapest, Hungary, where he stressed in a speech the strategic importance of the country’s relationship with the European Union, said the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Culto.
González also urged approval of a a cooperation and commercial association agreement with Costa Rica.
The president’s wife is expected to travel to New York where she will participate in the 35th anniversary celebration of the University for Peace in Ciudad Colón.
That will be at the United Nations, which operates the university.
Casa Presidencial said that expenses for her trip were being assumed by sponsors of the two events.
