Sala IV orders highway agency to make Piedades intersection safer

Got a problem with the roadway? The Sala IV constitutional court may help.

The court has ruled that the municipal and central governments must act to protect the security of those who travel the roads in Piedades de Santa Ana.

The court found against the Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes and the Consejo Nacional de Vialidad. It said that infrastructure was lacking at an intersection of  the Caldera highway, Ruta 27, and national Ruta 22.

The court told the central government to finish studies that would suggest possible locations for turnouts for buses and to begin construction within six months if the plan were feasible.

The court also ordered the finishing of a pedestrian bridge at the location.

In addition the Municipalidad de Santa Ana was told that it must notify property owners along Ruta 22 that they must construct sidewalks.
