A 1.65 meter female crocodile might not seem to be a mighty foe, but pets and children might think so. That is why law enforcement is quick to remove such wandering critters.
The last such case was in Boca Vieja de Quepos where neighbors spotted the five and a half-foot reptile near homes Wednesday night.
Members of the Servicio Nacional de Guardacostas, the Cuerpo de Bomberos and the Sistema Nacional de Áreas de Conservación of the Ministerio del Ambiente participated in the relocation.
The animal ended up in the mangroves along the Río Pirrís, which is considered good territory for crocs.
