The children live in Talamanca mountain villages with names that are foreign to the city dweller’s ears. Names like Tsiöbata, Xinöli, Köwa, Guayaba Yäkä, Jaktain and Tsipiri, among others. In some communities there is one teacher to handle all the grade levels.
It was to these isolated communities the Dirección del Servicio de Vigilancia Aérea of the Ministerio de Seguridad Pública flew other officers to play Santa Wednesday. Some 600 youngsters got gifts, including the most important rubber boots for the rural areas.
These are the communities where native populations live, and access by land is lengthy and difficult.
The youngsters also got school supplies, backpacks, blankets, food and clothing.
