Wind projects planned for Liberia and Tilarán

The Spanish firms Gamesa and Iberdrola Ingeniería have been contracted to build two more wind farms in Costa Rica.

They will be in Tilarán and Liberia.  Gamesa already has built a similar generating setup in Orosí and constructed others in Honduras and Nicaragua.

The owner of the wind farms will be Globeleq Mesoamerica Energy.

A press release by the Spanish firms said that the wind farms would provide electricity for 60,000 homes and provide jobs for 400 persons during construction.

The projects are expected to be in operation by the end of next year.
