Another fuel tank planned for Liberia airport

The state petroleum monopoly said that it will build a third tank at Daniel Oduber airport in Liberia to hold jet fuel.

The firm, the Refinadora Costarricense de Petroléo S.A., said that the demand for jet fuel has doubled in the last five years.

The new tank will bring to three the number at the airport. The proposed tank will hold the same amount as the existing ones, 5,000 barrels.

The company also said that a series of tanks at Barranca, Puntarenas, will go into service this year. The two largest tanks each hold 25,000 barrels, and a much smaller tank handles the transmission of jet fuel from La Garita via pipeline. The fuel eventually goes to Liberia.
