Bank to use cell phone selfies as ID

Banco Nacional says it soon will be instituting facial recognition software for cell phone customers.

The customer’s face will serve as sort of a PIN number.

The bank said that it will establish a data base of customers that will be compared with the one seeking access to an account via a cell telephone. The customer’s cell telephone will take a selfie, which will be mathematically digitized. That information will be sent to the bank for comparison with the data base.

The bank said that makeup, haircuts or a beard will not impede identification.
