Religious leaders have been called to discuss the freedom associated with worship.
The Defensoría de los Habitantes set up the meeting for today at 9 a.m. in the agency’s offices in Barrio México.
An announcement said that the meeting, the second of its kind, was to mark the United Nations World Interfaith Harmony Week. The politics associated with religion are complex, and a number of little-known faiths have been invited.
The Defensoría said that in addition to the Catholic Conferencia Episcopa, representatives are expected from Asociación Tibetano Costarricense, Casa Zen, Centro Cultural Musulmán, Centro Evangelístico, Centro Israelita, Comunidad Bahá´i, Congregación B´nei Israel de Costa Rica, Iglesia Ciudad Bendición, Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal, the Episcopal Church, Espiritualidad Indígena, the Order of Friars Minor and the Sisters of Our Lady of Sion.
