Rules posted for generating home power

The nation’s energy authority published technical information and methodology in the la Gaceta official newspaper Tuesday, and the tariffs will be subjected to a public hearing March 17.

The published material includes the methods and rates of homeowners who want to connect their energy generating system to the national network.

The Autoridad Reguladora de Servicios Públicos set up the material in conjunction with the Intendencia de Energía.

The rules establish the conditions and access and interconnections by producers-consumers of electricity. The idea is that when a solar system is generating unwanted electricity, the excess can be put in the national network. When a home system is not generating sufficiently to fill demands, power will be taken from the network operated by the local utility.
