Now it is the head of the Caja who is being accused of nepotism.
The individual, a medical doctor, is the former health minister, María del Rocío Sáenz, who now is the executive president of the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social.
The newspaper El Diario Extra reported Wednesday that the
women has named the companion of a family member as her Caja-employed driver. The Unión Nacional de Empleados de la Caja y Seguridad Social quickly demanded that President Luis Guillermo Solís either fire her or ask for her resignation.
A similar appointment cost the job of the former minister of Trabajo.
Dr. Sáenz said that the appointment conforms to the rules of the Caja, the nation’s public health service.
