The Paracito bridge over the Río Virilla in Santo Domingo de Heredia will not be in service today because work crews have more supports to install. Since Saturday crews were installing one of those temporary bailey bridges. Eventually a new, two-lane bridge with sidewalks on each side will be installed. Officials had predicted the bridge would be ready today.
Highway officials said that the bridge will be opened first for passenger cars and that trucks probably will not be able to use the bridge until next week.
