Infant mortality said to have declined

Costa Rican officials said Thursday that the country ranks in fourth place in infant mortality behind Cuba, the United States and Chile.

The Ministerio de Salud said that the 2015 mortality rate was 7.76 per 1,000 births. The statement grows out of a coming visit by the Organisation for Economic Developement and Cooperation during which the government will outline its advances in the health field.

Infant mortality had declined from 8.01 in 2014, said officials.
