Cigarettes and alcohol confiscated by police

The Policía de Fronteras said Tuesday that in the first five months of the year, its officers had confiscated 32,000 packs of illegal cigarettes and 36,000 loose ones. They also said they confiscated 13,465 cans or bottles of alcohol.

The bulk of the confiscations were made at a checkpoint on the Interamericana Sur at Kilometer 35 in Guaycará de Golfito.

Among the smuggling cases is one of a truck headed north from Paso Canoas that contained 2,543 bottles of alcohol, said the agency.
