A rural electrification cooperative has announced an internet service for an estimated 6,000 persons in the Zarcero area.
The company is Cooperativa de Electrificación Rural de Alfaro Ruiz, which said it hopes to expand the service with other cooperatives.
The firm said that its rates would be 30 percent less than available elsewhere and that it has direct connections with international internet cables.
The company has been working to get up the service since 2013 and has invested $100,000. The service became available last year and now covers Zarcero, Naranjo and San Ramón.
