Three moderate earthquakes that were felt here took place late Wednesday and early today.
The first was near Ciudad Colón and was felt as far away as in some places in San José. The Red Sismológica Nacional said the magnitude was 3.5 and the time was 10:29 p.m.
Early today at 34 minutes past midnight, another 3.5 quake took place an estimated 96 kilometers northwest of Peñas Blancas in the Pacific Ocean. However, there were reports that the jolt was felt in some sections of northern and western Costa Rica.
Finally 15 minutes later at 12:49 a.m. a 4.4 magnitude quake took place about 60 kilometers south of Quepos.
