The 27th edition of the Feria Internacional del Libro Costa Rica begins Sept. 2 for a nine-day run.
Among the featured guest this year is Mary Jo Bang, a poet from the United States. She is a college professor in Missouri and has a career that includes 10 years as co-editor of the Boston Review.
Other foreign invited authors come from Colombia, Guatemala, Argentina and Spain.
The book fair is in the Antigua Aduana on Calle 23 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. There also are many special events including a celebration of Librería Lehmann‘s 120 th anniversary.
The event is put on by the Ministerio de Cultura y Juventud and the Cámara Costarricense del Libro. Last year 60,000 persons attended.
Although most of the books on display are in Spanish, there are a significant number in other languages including English.
