Poor quality of materials and a water problem coupled to make a section of road near San Andrés de León Cortés quite a slippery slope.
According to the Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes, crews are being sent to fix that section of the road, a small but perilous 25 meters near a cliff, and build a wall anchored with an improved guardrail. This will allow, the ministry hopes, to recover the gutter and shoulders lost from slide.
About 180 million colons are being put towards the project and it should start within 55 days, the ministry said. Progress, however, may be determined by the weather conditions of the day.
